The DNR Cannot Have It Both Ways
|
|
It is becoming quite apparent that the DNR is using smoke and mirrors to make its case. And they must decide whether they want to call this animal a wild wolf or a wolf-dog. If they are going to call him a wild wolf they must follow their own “Wolf Management Plan”. The only time a wolf can be killed by the DNR, according to their own Plan, is when there is “Confirmed Depredation” and then only after other options have been pursued.
According to their own reports, depredation has not occurred and obviously other options are not being pursued.
We are currently investigating with our attorney whether or not the DNR can legally kill this animal and what it will take for us to file an injunction in Wisconsin.
As an aside - this is not just a Wisconsin issue! There has been some suggestion that non-residents of Wisconsin should stay out of their business. The resources within that state although managed by some state agencies is primarily protected with federal monies and the responsibility of all humans on this planet.

Wolf Credentials
|
|
The DNR has also suggested that Wolf would not be able to handle the liability issues involved with the transfer of this animal to the sanctuary. In reality Wolf carries a $2M liability policy for animals on or off-site.
Likewise, the only permit that would be required, in order to transfer this animal to the sanctuary would be from the US Fish & Wildlife Service. This permit is necessary to possess and move any wild wolf across state lines and is specific to each situation or animal.
Wolf is currently licensed by the USDA, the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Colorado State Vets Office.

In the meantime we need your help to keep the pressure on the authorities and bring this situation to the attention of a wider audience. Because of your help this is already starting to occur. Just with your response to our alert from the 10th of May, 2 more newspaper articles have been written and a poll has now been set up on one of the local TV station’s web site. (see links for these below & please vote)
It is important that we continue to build the momentum and broaden the awareness.
Below are email addresses for you to copy and paste into your email address blocks. Unfortunately, some politicians will no longer give out their email addresses and you must email them through a form on their web site. Likewise some of those politicians only have fax numbers available for you to communicate with them. I have listed those as well for those of you who have the time.
