The 10th Anniversary celebration was a wonderful success. Nearly 200 people attended to help celebrate. People arrived from as far away as Pennsylvania to join in the fun and take part in the auctions.

Frank & Pat Wendland, cofounders of Wolf, thoroughly enjoyed visiting with so many wonderful supporters.

An amazing response to our appeal for auction items from individuals and businesses provided Wolf with over 200 items. Our thanks to all of you who donated such a wide variety of items for people to bid on. The Silent Auction went so well that only one gift certificate, crock pot, and a few small pieces of art work were left over. The live auction, on the other side of the coin, did not do as well as we had hoped.

Some of the very large items necessarily had minimum bids, these items were valued at thousands of dollars. So, we want you all to start saving your pennies, nickels and dimes throughout the year so next year you can bid on the “BIG” items and the live auction will add to the success of the Waltz.

Two dear friends of Wolf, Pat, and Frank; Debbie Sannan whose stage name is Violet, & Kerry Tripp who uses the stage name of Indigo, honored Wolf with a song written expressly for the animals of the sanctuary. The song titled “Call Me Home” will be recorded in July. Violet & Indigo also supplied some additional entertainment for the evening. Everyone attending the Waltz enjoyed dancing to the music of Altered Egos.

As part of the celebration, a Power Point Program titled “Wolf - A Decade of Saving Lives” was produced by Frank with photos of all the animals that have lived at the Sanctuary over the past years. It also included the names of all of the supporters from the first ten years who made it all possible. The program is accompanied with beautiful music including “Call Me Home”, the song written by Debbie Sannan and Kerry Tripp for the animals of Wolf. Because we have had so many requests for copies of the Power Point Program, we are in the process of making it available in VHS or DVD format for anyone that would like to purchase a copy. The program will be available for a $7.50 donation, which includes shipping. Please call the sanctuary for more details.

All of the guests at the Waltz received a commemorative key chain as a gift from Wolf. The key chain is engraved with the Wolf logo and a wolf paw on one side and 10th Anniversary Celebration on the other. In addition each guest was given a potted plant from the center pieces at the tables.

up, taking photos, working the auction tables, moving tables, supplying a room for other volunteers to change clothes,
delivering
balloons, flowers and coffee,

While celebrating, awards were presented to volunteers and supporters. The ‘Nanook - Pack Elder’ award was presented to supporters that have been instrumental in helping Wolf during the past ten years. This is the first time this award has been given and it is with pleasure we announce the recipients:

 Journey Books,
  Z.G. Standing Bear,
  WalMart Distribution Center,

  Lorraine May.

We decided it would also be an appropriate time to present The ‘Spirit of Wolf’ awards for 2004
(see Donor Recognition for a listing).

While we had everyone captive, we had some fun with our volunteers.
David Haggerty was presented with the ‘Poop Scooper’ award for the obvious reason.
Jesse Hand received the ‘Spit Swapper’ award for being the best French kisser with the wolves.
Michelle Lyons was presented the ‘Lunch Box’ award for always supplying lunch for the volunteers.
Helene Harrison was given the ‘Bus Driver’ award for providing the most car pool services.
Steve Wolfsong who keeps the ancient vehicles of Wolf running was given the ‘Mr. Goodwrench’ award.
Eric Epperson was presented the with the ‘Bring Home the Bacon’ award for dealing with and picking up all of the meat that keeps the wolves fat and happy.
Sharon Lyons-Sharp received the ‘Cash Box’ award for her work at public events and
Brandy Russell received the ‘Maggot Tote’ award. You’ll have to ask Brandy what this means.

A good time was had by all and one more Thank You to everyone who attended -- without you, our supporters, this would still be just a dream of Frank and Pat’s.
