| The dedication and commitment of the staff at Wolf has steadily been tested time and time again. Whether it involves long hours without days off, low to no pay, saying goodbye to animals we love, struggling with county misconceptions, lack of personal lives or being shunned by animals that you have to traumatize to help -- the result is most often a thankless job. Every once in a while though there are magical moments that we have come to call our ‘pay checks’. One of the wolves will do something that recharges our spirits and reminds us why we do what we do. Their individual personalities and the value of their lives cannot be denied. Although we usually do not have a camera when these moments occur, every once in a while we do get lucky. The following incidents will recount a few of these magical moments for you to share and hopefully remind you as well why you continue to support our efforts. |

Jay and Cheyenne Howl
Cheyenne was a pure wolf who developed a special friendship with Jay. Their inter-species connection was absolutely amazing. Although she had a spectacular companion in Spirit, she loved to sing with Jay. Although she passed many years ago, this photo caught one of those magical moments and still warms our hearts.

All puppies are cute, but this particular scene was anything but typical for Kasha. He was a very hyper puppy and seemed somehow to know he was going to be photographed when this situation occurred.

Shaman -- Got Milk?
No one could have guessed at this age, how large he would get. Brought to the Sanctuary at just 3.5 weeks of age, he was bottle fed until he started ripping the tips off the nipples at about 8 weeks of age. He didn’t stop growing until reaching his peak at about 105 lbs. |

Tunyan & Mesa
Tunyan didn’t take long to show everyone that she was an alpha female. Mesa continued to demonstrate what a sweet and accommodating giant he was. |
